Welcome to a Portal Into Eric Bergman’s Reality

Some years ago I was thinking about launching an on-line community for people in the Colorado region who appreciate old Italian motorcycles. The density of such is just not great enough to support a traditional club, but I thought maybe a website would be amusing (I launched the Norton Colorado website over 20 years ago). I came up with a fun domain name (MotoVICE = Moto Vintage Italian, Colorado Enthusiasts) but I lost momentum and never created the website. Now, thanks to Jerry Doe (impresario of dev2host.com), something is happening but I’m not too sure what it will be. It will still have a major focus on Italian motorcycles (and other motorcycles that interest me) but I no longer want to try to start another “club” so the domain should probably now be interpreted as “Moto Vintage Italian, a Colorado Enthusiast”. I will try to stay away from commentary on my other interests or the state of the world. My professional activities are covered at the Global Seismological Services website.

Moto Morini 175 engine teardown complete

Posted on August 31, 2021

I’ve added a lot of material to the page on that process and created a new page that goes through the details of disassembling the right side. I intend to do these pages for all parts of the engine, but I was not

Starting the build

I’m starting to lay out the structure of the website, and learning how to do basic tasks in WordPress. You won’t find much content yet, but I have added some info about my Ural sidecar rig, the Moto Morini 175GT, my history with Nortons and the amazing Vetter-Wilcox Suzuki project I call “Tsubame”.

Hello world!

Posted on December 9, 2020
If you’ve ever studied a programming language you probably wrote a “Hello world!” program. I’ve written a lot of things in a variety of formats but this is my first blog post, so I’m getting it out of the way. Now that I’ve written it, though, it strikes me that “Hello world!” is a very 1970s sort of sentiment (for good reason) and maybe a more timely introductory phrase would be something like “Fake News!”.
